Letter, 1832 September 17, to Watkins Leigh or Mr. Ashby, the overseer, Stoneleigh, Dan River, Halifax County, Virginia.

Randolph sends Davy to work for Ashby in place of another. Davy is a sheep and hog stealer, weak breasted, predisposed to consumption, and must not be given hard work or exposed to wet or cold. The letter is to be carried by Davy as a permit to pass unmolested.

Benjamin Watkins Leigh (1781-1849), a native of Chesterfield County, Virginia, was educated at William and Mary College, and practiced law in Petersburg and Richmond, Virginia.
